Course Description

 

New trainers will learn techniques for performing the multiple roles of a trainer with an emphasis on presentation, facilitation and classroom management. Trainers will learn about the learning needs of the adult learner and the diverse qualities of learners.  They will get an overview of learning methods and how to enhance training materials and audiovisuals to engage the learner and facilitate learning. Trainers will review the communication skills essential for training delivery and realize the importance of practice. They will review guidelines for opening, presenting and facilitating learning activities, managing the class, and closing the training. Trainers will have an opportunity to deliver a short training module and receive feedback.

  • Recognize methods to motivate and engage the adult learner.
  • Analyze learner needs.
  • Recognize how learner needs influence the creation of learning objectives.
  • Customize training and audiovisuals to motivate learner engagement and facilitate learning.
  • Use guidelines for verbal and nonverbal communication to engage the learner and facilitate learning.
  • Start a course with an engaging opening.
  • Follow guidelines for using a variety of learning methods, including presentation, facilitation, activities and audiovisual.
  • Use techniques for managing learners’ behaviors.

This course is designed for managers who have little or no training in the preparation and delivery of training.

Training Methodology

 

This course is designed with a very interactive and hands-on approach based on adult learning theory and it includes presentations, demonstrations, activities, exercises, multi-media tools, and a hands-on evaluation. The course is customizable to address specific requirements for your organization.

There will be a pre-assessment before the start of training and a post assessment and a student evaluation at the end of training. The Institute for Workforce Education will also issue a training engagement report after the completion of training with assessment, evaluation, attendance, and instructor information.
